Oh I've been so bad - neglecting my blog for so long. But with the holidays and other priorities in my life right now, something had to slide for a bit. But I'm back. Been busy with trying to focus on the #1 priority in my life right now - weight loss. I've been at this since April of last year. 8 months later and I'm 40 pounds lighter and for that I am so very thankful! Right from the beginning I set a goal to lose 5 pounds a month. That's all. One month at a time. 5 pounds. As I got closer to the holidays and the end of the year, my 5 pounds a month was adding up and getting me very close to 40 pounds lost. 40 pounds! That's two good-sized turkeys for Thanksgiving day. Eight 5 pound bags of sugar. A small child! I didn't make the 40 by the end of the year; was short by 8/10ths of a pound. But that's ok for me - close enough! I hit the 40 this past week and was so excited. Now on to 50 by my March 1st weigh in. I cannot wait to get my 50 pound charm!
I've been thinking a lot about resolutions. I'm not a New Year's resolution type person. I've made them in the past and have NEVER succeeded, so why bother? But instead this year I did sit and think about what I wanted for this upcoming year and did come up with a few things I need to work on. I think it's important, for me, to write them down, so I can always revisit them and refocus my energies on where I want to be and what I need to do to get there. I have a few different areas of my life I'd like to work on and improve. These aren't written in stone and I'm surely not going to beat myself up if I don't reach all of them, but at least I've written them down and can revist them when needed to get me refocused and back on track.
GOALS FOR 2011
HEALTH/FITNESS
- MOVE MORE
- Join gym
- Go to gym at least 3x a week – strength training
- Walk/run? a 10K - (ok so I probably won't run one, but I can dream, can't I?)
- Yoga
- Schedule physical/mammogram/pap
PHOTOGRAPHY
- Learn more about my camera
- Take more photos
- Schedule photos shoots
FOOD/HEALTH
- Try at least one new menu a week
- Continue to pack a healthy lunch daily (I've done this EVERY. SINGLE. WORKDAY since April 21, 2010 and that's a huge change for me! I always used to run out and grab something, never a healthy option, wasted time to drive to pick up the food, where now I use that time to walk for 30 minutes before I eat my lunch. HUGE change for me!)
SCRAPPING
- Scrap at least 2 nights a week – something/anything – just scrap & create!
- 1 night for my weight loss journey book/1 night other projects.
BLOG
- Compose at least one post a week for blog – either scrapbooking; weight loss journey; or just everyday life.
2ND INCOME
- Work on ideas for classes or something for a second income.
These are my goals/my intentions for the upcoming year. I'm hoping by having them written down, they will be a constant reminder to keep on track! Have a great weekend everyone. I'm off to spend some time with a friend and to get my walk in for the day.
