SCORE!!

I went shopping this weekend to try to find a new winter jacket.  My current ones are so big and really don't fit close enough to my body to keep me as warm as I'd like to be.  I mean, sure, I can wear them, but they really are too big.  So off I went this weekend to find one, but really couldn't find one I liked at all or the ones I did like were a bit more than my budget would allow.  I'm thinking I really don't want to spend a ton because by next winter it probably will be too big if I continue losing weight the way I am now...which is my plan!

So as I was walking out of TJMaxx bummed because I couldn't find a jacket I spotted this cute number hanging on the end of a clearance rack.  Not with similar tops, but just hanging on an end of a rack almost like someone had changed their mind on it and just hung it at the end of a rack.  It called out to me....really it did!  I looked at it, put it back and then grabbed it again.  How could I not buy it?  It reminds me so much of the flower embellishments that two of my favorite scrapbook manufacturers make and I just love the color!  AND...it was ONLY $5.00!!  SCORE!!!!!

I so needed a non-scale victory this week; been struggling a bit with my food choices.  I haven't felt my best; seem a bit sluggish and been dealing with some back muscle pain/spasms since Saturday.  When I get like this and not feeling top-notch, I don't pay the best attention to the choices I make with my food plan and then I beat myself up about that which makes me spiral to munching on stuff I shouldn't don't want to be putting in my mouth.   So I have really been trying to remind myself how far I've come; how many accomplishments I've made over these past 8 months; how awesome it feels when I try on new clothes and can buy things in smaller sizes.  I'm a clearance rack-type of gal; especially now that I'm going down in sizes and need to update my wardrobe every couple of months.  To find this top on the clearance rack for $5.00 made me extremely happy.  And to top it off not far from this top was a pair of jeans 3088645_front_md in the brand and style that I wear for a lot cheaper than I buy them for at Kohl's.  They were in a size smaller than I'm currently in, but for the price I just had to pick them up because I knew someday soon I'd fit into them.  Today, a snow day, I decided to wear jeans to work and I thought, what the heck, I'm going to try on those jeans.  They fit!   Not only did they fit, they were comfortable, not tight at all.  Another size lower.....WOOHOO!   I have worn jeans in this brand and style in four different sizes now since April and I've saved all the tags so I can scrap them.  It's so awesome to see I've gone down three sizes since April.  This was just the non-scale victory I needed today!  SCORE!!!

2011 - am I ready?

Oh I've been so bad - neglecting my blog for so long.  But with the holidays and other priorities in my life right now, something had to slide for a bit.  But I'm back.  Been busy with trying to focus on the #1 priority in my life right now - weight loss.  I've been at this since April of last year.  8 months later and I'm 40 pounds lighter and for that I am so very thankful!  IMG_1289 Right from the beginning I set a goal to lose 5 pounds a month.  That's all.  One month at a time.  5 pounds.  As I got closer to the holidays and the end of the year, my 5 pounds a month was adding up and getting me very close to 40 pounds lost.  40 pounds!  That's two good-sized turkeys for Thanksgiving day.  Eight 5 pound bags of sugar.  A small child!  I didn't make the 40 by the end of the year; was short by 8/10ths of a pound.  But that's ok for me - close enough!  I hit the 40 this past week and was so excited.  Now on to 50 by my March 1st weigh in.  I cannot wait to get my 50 pound charm!

I've been thinking a lot about resolutions.  I'm not a New Year's resolution type person.  I've made them in the past and have NEVER succeeded, so why bother?  But instead this year I did sit and think about what I wanted for this upcoming year and did come up with a few things I need to work on.  I think it's important, for me, to write them down, so I can always revisit them and refocus my energies on where I want to be and what I need to do to get there.  I have a few different areas of my life I'd like to work on and improve.   These aren't written in stone and I'm surely not going to beat myself up if I don't reach all of them, but at least I've written them down and can revist them when needed to get me refocused and back on track.

GOALS FOR 2011

HEALTH/FITNESS

  • MOVE MORE

  • Join gym

  • Go to gym at least 3x a week – strength training

  • Walk/run? a 10K - (ok so I probably won't run one, but I can dream, can't I?)

  • Yoga

  • Schedule physical/mammogram/pap

PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Learn more about my camera

  • Take more photos

  • Schedule photos shoots

FOOD/HEALTH

  • Try at least one new menu a week

  • Continue to pack a healthy lunch daily (I've done this EVERY. SINGLE. WORKDAY since April 21, 2010 and that's a huge change for me!  I always used to run out and grab something, never a healthy option, wasted time to drive to pick up the food, where now I use that time to walk for 30 minutes before I eat my lunch.  HUGE change for me!)

SCRAPPING

  • Scrap at least 2 nights a week – something/anything – just scrap & create!

  • 1 night for my weight loss journey book/1 night other projects.

BLOG

  • Compose at least one post a week for blog – either scrapbooking; weight loss journey; or just everyday life.

2ND INCOME

  • Work on ideas for classes or something for a second income.

These are my goals/my intentions for the upcoming year.  I'm hoping by having them written down, they will be a constant reminder to keep on track!  Have a great weekend everyone.  I'm off to spend some time with a friend and to get my walk in for the day.
